There are two possible leaks... -12 gram seal -orings Where is it leaking? Pull the rear cap off and see if you have a cartridge valve or a non-cartridge valve. This would be helpful to know if you need a specific valve tool or if you can just punch out the valve. |

Not a dumb question at all. As already said by chemist, you can take a look at the branding and that will 99% of the time tell you the valve. However, I like to visually check things and not go into it and be like "Oh shoot I need a valve tool" Here's a fantastic link. Sheridan Valve Assembly and Other Tech Links The PA one should be the cartridge valve and the P one should be the old style valve. The leaking one should be really easy to deal with. You pull the grip frame off and all other parts of the marker. Drop two 12 grams through the rear and slightly tap it on a table or with a rubber mallet. Valve would slide forward and you can check the face seal. I'm OCD, so while you have it apart, it wouldn't hurt to swap out the new orings either. If you have any questions, just post them. Pics are always easier to work with tho. |

thnak you for all of your info when i get home from work i will start to take appart and take some pictures so you have visuals. as far as the different valves go....what is the main difference between the two? is it for efficiency or for easy removal? im just curious. |

Ease of removal is the big one. The other things is one is "easier" to mod for efficiency, play with springs, blah blah blah. |

The original valve(p-series) is held in place by a square nut in the valve tube(like a cocker), you will need a special tool and it is in pieces. If you take a look at the stickies there should be instructions on both, although you may want to look near the end of the threads as the images are missing sometimes. As far as performance, not much difference. I find the cartridge a little easier to mod for efficiency,
