Interesting Valve Issue

Ok so I got a parts pgp in today that had something interesting. It is an old style valve but it is a newer version of it because it had a powdercoat on it, not the traditional oxide finish. I went to take the valve out and this was inside between the chamber plug and the 12gram. So on the outside of the valve.

It is threaded and it looks like the front grip screw is supposed to thread into it. The pgp is also missing the typical nutsert for the front frame screw. Has anyone seen this before and know if this is typical?

That is a stop collar, found at most hardware stores. It is a quick fix for loose or missing nutserts, not a Sheridan part as far as I know.
How big is the hole where the nut sert would go ?
I think Sheridan switched to powder coating as the cartridge valve models came about, and they were just using up all the old valve style bodies after the switch to powdercoating.

i've had a few p68sc's and a pgp come through with those, all were 'transitional period' markers in between old to new valves. quite sturdy, my k-framed p68 has one, only problem i have is a tendency to 'roll' since the nutsert ringisn't fixed in the valve tube, allowing side-to-side movement.

sheridan p-series to k-series conversion thoughts...

I have found a few of those as well. I just take them out and replace the nutsert.

Interesting, it seems like it works well enough with the collar. I'll probably keep it for now as I don't know how to replace the nutsert.

Smiley, I'll measure the hole size when I get home.

I've had several come across my bench with those inside. I was having a problem with one a few years ago and posted something here about it....not sure where that went.
