cooper-t bolt

forgive my ignorance, but i have a cooper-t bolt in my pmi ii and I can't for the life of my figure out how its meant to come out. Do I have to take out the lower tube than screw in what connect the hammer and bolt?

If the bolt is in the forward position, detatch the pump rod from the bolt. Rotate the bolt clockwise. The pin should come out the side slot in your marker and you should be able to unscrew it from there. The bolt will then just slide out the back.

okay i have removed the bolt it would seem the bolt lug that connects to the hammer is damaged can i replace it with just a normal black set screw? or should try and find a actual lug? would a stainless steel set screw be best?

A set screw if fine. Most of my Cooper-T just have set screws.
I don't know the correct size off the top of my head though.
