Wow. I misread your original post then. Usually I use a regular long stick style squeegee and cram some twisted paper towel through it a couple of times damp first, then dry. I've used a spare wooden dowel on occasion when I can't find a squeegee and that worked like a charm.
I've never had to shine up the inside of the barrel or anything. It always seems decent once I get it cleaned out.
Sometimes I've shoved some soft scrap fabric through instead of paper towel. Polar fleece works really well for that.
