Twist Lock Bolt Action?

How does some of the older non-pump (well, in the sense there isn't a pump) twist lock bolt design work? And how is the bolt removed for cleaning/servicing?

Detailed explanation would be great, although I can't imagine it's thhhat complicated.

I.E. When the gun is at rest, do you twist (clockwise or counterclockwise?) the bolt, then pull it to cock the gun, get a ball chambered, then pushing it back in to the closed position and twist it the reverse direction to lock it in place?

The reason for this is that I want to surprise my cousin with a twist lock bolt action rifle from pps, but I wanna really know what I'm getting myself into before I dedicate the necessary 1k+ funds...

Thank you for the help!

AwwwwwSOME! god, I might just end up keeping it myself and give him another of my guns....

when unlocking the bolt, which direction do you have to turn the bolt, cw or ccw? Or does that depend on what kind of shooter the gun's designed for (cw for left-handed/ccw for right-handed)?

personally i'd get WALZ to build you one or G&H Customs. don't know if G&H is taking orders or not though. i'd take them over PPS anyday!

how long is that barrel btw?

20 inches and a 20 round feed tube...hence the 20/20 on the id plate.

Quite frankly, that thing is beautiful.
