12gm, or 3.5 C.A.?

I thought I had my direction all set for my latest project, but now I'm having second thoughts. Originally, I had envisioned direct feed, 50 rd hopper with a quick change 12 gm. side exit. My thinking was one twelvie should get close to 40 good shots off and that would be good for a game. I'm ready to do a little hot work now and I'm having second thoughts. One thing I have not liked about my design is that the pump handle is further forward than I would like. I'm now considering doing an ASA off the bottom tube and using a 3.5 tank. I could then cut the front of the stock down and pull the pump handle back some as well as have constant air. Here is a picture of the basic lay out I had in mind, sorry it's crappy, I just snapped it with my phone.

What would you do?

I say air off bottom tube. You can always use a bucket changer for those 12gram days.

i say 12gram dummy so you can use tank that goes under stock. since be a lot easier play with not have to worrier about changing 12grams all time since pain if you do not have quick changer on it.

Dun, I actually thought about cutting the stock pirate style and running a 15 asa off the bottom of the grip. I actually mocked the parts up the other day and it's going to need more angle, more like 20-25. I do like the air line through the grip idea though. I have never really liked the look of the bottle under the stock, but I think I'm leaning more to C.A. I think the 12ie thing is more of a romantic idea than something I will actually play with and enjoy. Thanks for the input guys.

Have you thought about doing it like this.
It makes it nice and tight and asa adaptor
can be made to any angle you need. Pic...

Walz that mount style is what I originally thought for the 3.5, except I wanted to run it without any external lines. I considered doing an ASA from a mini cocker pipe tap straight into the valve area, but don't like the look of the bottle vertically and couldn't see how to get an angled mount like you have shown with the air through like I want without a ton of custom work.

How about this setup.
Looks to be fairly simple and efficient.

Just throwing some thoughts your way...

i know it's crazy, but i agree with going ca over 12vie on this build. another option is what i did for my first build, horizontal forward off the trigger guard:

recently swapped the leaky macroline over to a hardline, taps straight into the original bluestreak valve. was handy at the recent oxcc/viper event where i ran a 22ci tank instead of the changer as i was low on 12vies feeding the rest of my gats...

Thank you all for throwing out the ideas. You have all really helped me get the rusty ol' gears turning and now I have my direction set with clear vision in mind. Just so you know, I'm going C.A. 3.5. I'll probably do a build thread in the projects section when I get some more pieces made and the hot work done.
