Removing a Vm68 valve?

I just picked up my first VM a little while ago, and it appears that the cup seal is bad. If anyone could tell me how to get the valve out so I could replace it it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Well that was certainly the most helpful thing ever Titus!

FOr lots of good info on VM's look here:

www.vm68.com: VM-68

As Titus so generously noted, you will need a valve tool, they show up on ebay occasionally.. in fact one is for sale now:

VM-68 Valve Tool *NEW* - (eBay item 7215006202 end time Sep-19-07 08:30:06 PDT)

Once you have the valve tool you remove the back plugs from the gun, pull out the bolt and hammer, insert the valve tool into the lower tube and thread it into the valve, then unscrew the two screws (one on either side of the gun) that are about 1/3 of the way back from the front of the gun. With the srews removed you can pull the valve body out and get to the cupseal.

Clearly is was E, glad I could lend a hand...

And just incase this post doesn't get deleted, I may have a valve tool around in one of my tool boxes. Sometime today I'll take a look and see if an extra one is there.

you could also use a very long bolt or piece of threaded rod - I think the size is 3/8" and make a home made tool.

...You can also remove the lower back plug, stick in a coathanger, and air up the marker

3/8" Coarse threaded is what you need. Pretty much a lag bolt.
