You bring up good points, but there was a small run of KP2DFs made at the end of the run of the series, that had the shorter lower tube. As a matter of fact the only thing that makes the difference between the late model KP2DF and the KP3 was the tank mount bracket and the CA adapter. I have a KP2DF that just like this. There is where the reasoning comes from that "If it doesn't have holes where a tank bracket mounted then it is a late model DF. Here is a pic I saved of c6quad's Kps:

Notice the ones in the boxes. The top 2 boxes are KP3s, the bottom box Is a factory KP2DF. It has a short bottom tube, and I happen to know that on the edge of that box is printed "KP2DF". I wish the gallery was not down so I could find the close up pictures of that KP2DF. Also here is a quote form Chad on the subject:

also, the shorter lower tube on the gun makes no difference... there were factory kp2df's that had the shorter lower tubes. you don't see them very often but they do exsist and looking for the hole(as mentioned above) is the only way to tell which model it is.

great grab Frink!!!! let us know about the stock when you get it. i'm curious to know myself.
This was taken from this thread KP2 or KP3? which in itself is informative.

I asked this same question when I got my first KP, it happened to be a KP2DF and wanted to be sure as to what is was and what was the source of peoples information on the subject. That is when I was shown Chads collection(or pictures of).

I still think it is a KP2DF

Why would this "KP2DF" have a KP3 bolt in it?

Like I said the only differance between the 2 was the Bracket and the CA adapter. At least the last run of the DF. Who knows why they did it that way. Why would they have changed the bolt between the two models in the first place? They are both the same length, only changed where the ball bearings are placed.

Maybe we can get c6quad to post some more pictures of the factory box KP2DF, but he is not on as much these days.

Why would they make a KP2DF with parts from a KP3 that came out 2ish years later???

Is it possible that Sheridan decided that it was more economical to stock one bolt rather than two towards the end of the kp2df run? They definitely would not be the first company to do such. As Chad has a still-in-box rifle that has the newer bolt but the box states kp2df, I would say that should settle it.

I just dont think you should base that it is a KP2DF just because its missing a tank bracket.

I can only assume that It was a marketing ploy. First KP2DF were made from KP2 parts already on hand as DF became popular in the sport. Last run of KP2Df was supposed to be a updated design, maybe to cut some cost in manufacturing, ie shortening the bottom tube to save on cost of material, change the spacing on the bolt locking mechanics to that of a P-series to save on set up of machining. Then as constant air came on the seen, add a bracket and a Ca adapter, and call it a new model.

^to post above^ Its not that it's just missing the tank bracket but the fact that there are no holes indicating that a tank bracket was ever attached

Well you are entitled to you opinion............even when I am right

Of coarse I kid. Discussions like this is where I learn all kinds of things about paintball.

Smiley and c6quad (and I am sure many others here) know far more about this subject than I.
