Hey Chefdave--

Just wondering if you've ever seen a(factory) KP2-DF, with the longer bottom barrel?

Wow. I thought mine was bad. That would have been '91 when I bought my TASO Spartan.

Personally, I think that any KP2's with the longer bottom tube and DF had the DF added aftermarket. Adding DF's to Sheridan's (and other SC guns) was a pretty popular mod.

Around that time, I even purchased a kit to convert my Nightmare SB into a DF.

That's what I thought. I've got a KP2, that I bought from a friend of mine, that his dad had sent in and had a DF conversion done on it. Someone did a nice job on it, but I never thought it was a factory produced gun. Thanks for the insight!

If the DF doesn't have a cut in it for the sights then it's not factory (although I think Line SI may have had a feedneck with a cut too).

Mine does have a cut in it for the sights, but the cut is on the opposite side of where it should be.

I searched for some time and have never seen a FACTORY KP2 DF with a long lower tube, all the ones I have seen were CONVERTED side tube KP2's.
Chad has a KP2 DF new in the box labeled as same, it has the short lower tube and a speed demon bolt. I would say it was a transition model which soon became the KP3 which then started coming with CA as an option then the PMI rifle with the later slider saftey and squared trigger guard.
here is an ad showing a KP3 with and without CA
