KP-3 Stock Questions

I have a few questions about the stock that comes with our KP-3's

1) What wood is it?
2) Has anyone used a grain darkener?

what wood Sheridan used varied..

yes once it's been stripped you can stain them then add a finish.
I'd suggest a oil based stain and I like to use a oil based finish.

Ok. Thanks.

Do you know if anyone has used any type of grain darkener to make the grain pop out more? I have plans to stain gray and use a grain darkener to make the grain look very dark.

I dunno that I would use darkener, in fact, don't use anything on it until you completely remove whatever finish/stain is on it and you have it down to natural wood.

Post a pic of the stock as well as the inside and I can likely tell you what kind of wood it is, though I'd bet it's Black Walnut, which finishes really nicely without any stain.

Oil based all the way.
