my first brass gun

I just bought a pgp, in good working order, from long beard. It is non cartridge, with the bolt bearing thing. Missing sights. I'll get pictures up later. I have access to a decent shop, the usual tools, plus a LARGE plasma cutter if that's even useful. And maybe a CNC router. So, my question is (before I get into the cosmetic stuff I intend to do to resell) what are some good starter mods? COMPLETE noob.

OK I decided to make a list of my questions and update them as needed. Feel free to answer via post, PM, or not at all!

1.The hole in the front sight has a bunch of clear glue or epoxy stuck in and around it? How should I go about taking that out? And if the sight has been broken off inside, what then?

2. Do I really need the bearing? I'm sure it serves a purpose, but it seems to hinder the pump stroke. Answered

3. Can I remove the front of the feed tube? Answered

4. What is a quick strip? Answered

5. Can I use a large torch setup to solder and desolder, or is it too strong. Its oxy acetylene. Semi answered

Edit: here is a pic
Nooope. Can't do it. I paste the URL in, just get a blue box...

RVA, fast changer, 12 grams, and some tubes of paint.

I was going to put a RVA, but I just really don't like the look of a fast changer. I don't know. It just pools the lines for me. I see a lot of stuff about efficiency, and cartridge vs non cartridge. What should I know about that? How hard would it be to replace the sights? Like I said, first brass gun, LOTS of questions.

While it might not be the most cosmetic thing, having 4 twists to change a 12 gram instead of 25 is a big deal. Plus, it's more surface area to maneuver.
As for a front sight, you can buy a truglo and put it right on.
TruGlo Glo-Dot II Shotgun Sights TG93A, TG92A, TG93B, TG92B. TruGlo Tritium & Fiber Optic Night Sights.

As for cartridge vs non cartridge, that's a huge debate that you'll be be off using the search function and reading old threads on it.
Best advice, get a palmer's dynavalve, swap it out, make sure the seals are good, and call it a day. Any more effort seems overkill for a $60 brass pistol.

OK, I'll check through. And yeah, it would be a lot handier. So you don't think that there'd be any parts floating around the bst?

Any ideas why the pic doesn't show? Hosted on photo bucket.

There might be a RVA, everything else, not so much.

It's not a pic, it's a link to the store listing for that part.

I do agree the fasst changers look kind of dumb stickong out further than the barrel. So you'll need to rebarrel it and THEN get a fasst changer.

The front sites are known for breaking off. Someone probably broke it off or removed and lost it. They're not easy to find replacements (bacci might have some though). If you have a lathe just make a new one. You can also rethread it and use a shotgun bead sight or something.

with photobucket, copy the IMG links and just paste them in.

See, that's what I THOUGHT I did... hmm... also, as a person who is new to tapping and threading and whatnot, how do I remove the current blockage? And when I screw it in, will I need something to make it touch with the barrel, or does it not reach all the way through? And yeah he actually has some new old stock right now. Damn... turn out I lost my small hex keys. Off to ace tomorrow!
