| Post Whore | VM gas efficiency
How many shots should I be hoping for out of my VM-magnum? I've got a 20 and 10 on it now, but I am wondering if I need another 20 as a backup. I'll be shooting around 1000 rounds.

VM and efficiency are two words you don't use in the same sentence unless speaking in negative terms. If you can get an expansion chamber on there instead of the 10oz along with a reg you will be in better shape.... other wise you will have your gun valved to run both gas (from the 20) and liquid (from the 10). The math used to be about 400 shots from a 7 oz tank... on a warm day. If you really want a good running vm...get a VTS (cough) I have a vm with vts for sale(cough) put a reg in the front asa and a 20 in the vts... you'll be running gas with no liquid and it will be entering the gun at a constant pressure. Then you can get some good efficiancy. |

Okay, I got a reply from Ben (greywolf, I think) on the VM owners group saying that a VM gets 60 shots per ounce straight and 100 per oz regged/EC'd/tuned. It's probably a pretty liberal estimate, but it's probably pretty close if you subtract 10shots/oz.

I shot 400 rounds on a 10 ounce today, so I think it's around 50 shots/oz. The 10oz still has lots of gas in it.

I always use 50 shots per oz to be on the safe side 10oz = 500 20oz = 1000 That will keep you from running out of air on any day with any type of weather.

Der...*headsmack* My numbers "per oz" were for a 3.5 oz tank, not "per oz"...I am horribly sorry for being an idiot previously, but I think I'm better now. Note to self: stop forgettig notes to self. What was that? Nevermind. Ben

Ben are you getting too much wave action out there? Maybe your brain needs some time to settle and sit still... you might be shaking your thoughts loose.... check your pillow at night.. you might find they've landed there. E |
