the lead gasket "prevents leaks" WHILE FIRING. now were talking fractions of a second here, where air has a chance to try to squeeze out through these fine pitch threads... not going to happen. it would much rather push the ball out the barrel.

and remember that seal surface is only exposed to pressure while the valve is actually open. so it doesn't leak anything at all when the ball is not actually in the instant of getting fired.

thus it's not needed.

cool explanation! now I can tell my team mates why I'm throwing it away when I work on their pieces of brass.

Im glad you told me that lead gasket wasent needed....because after I was done digging it out it was trashed and in several pieces. I got it a part and cleaned. Very nasty even that area ( like I said this was a very dirty marker). I wouldnt have been surprised if this wasnt cleaned except before it was sent from the factory. I am stopping after work to pick up polish and clear coat paint. Pics to follow its assembly. Thanks again.

Ok, things got alittle worse for me. I got everything back together. Threw a tank on it, and low and behold it leaked. Now I took the frame off to see where it was leaking at, and found a very bad thing. At some point some one soldered a hole shut in the bottom of the lower tube, Im guessing it goes into the valve housing. Well Im not sure if I knocked it loose or what. But I now have a fairly large leak from this soldered hole. I need some one who knows what they are doing with brass soldering. Or another easier fix would be great as well. I was almost thinking about bringing it to work and having it tapped and using a set screw of some sort and plugging it that way. Im just not sure how well that would work. Again any help would really be awesome.

PS I promise to NEVER EVER polish another piece of brass again...Wow is that horrible. I think I had a nightmare about finger prints the night I polished it.

that hole is a solder joint from the factory to hold in the valve core. take out all the valve guts and remove all the other gun parts and get some solder and a torch and seal it back up. don't try to tap it for a set screw, that'll probably cause more problems and won't fix anything.

lol... yeah, polished brass is a nightmare...

I got plenty of heat...it that other thingy I got a slight problem with. I was going to ask you ( as I have seen some of the awesome work you have already done). But I saw in another thread that you had a table full of other peoples projects as it was. I know how that is, and didnt want to bother you. But if I mess this up in any way I will most likely will be sending you a pm with either with begging or a brib in it....or both.
