One of Us... One of Us...

Curse you, MCB, CURSE YOU!

Before I came here, I had never heard of a KP-3. I would have been happy not knowing. Ignorance, my friends, is bliss. Because now that I have heard of one, I knew I had to get one. At first, I wasn't too impressed with wood. I just didn't like the way it looked. But after a while, I wanted one more and more. Which led me to buy a PMI-II, under the assumption that my cousin still had his old Blue Streak, which I was positive he'd let me have for the stock and trigger group. I was soon to learn he didn't have the BB gun any longer, and without the wood, the brass just didn't seem magical to me. So I sold it. Soon later, I had a chance to get a KP, and with MUCH thanks to Clearush for holding on to it until I had the funds, I found me sum brass n' wood!

I present to ya:

Now I DO have some questions for you wood heads. What model is this thing? I'm suspecting an early model or restocked KP-3, but I heard late model KP-2 DF's had a shortened lower tube, making it hard for them to be differentiated from KP-3's. I do know that this is not the same tank bracket that most KP-3's I've seen have. I checked, and the stock has only the original mounting holes for the bracket, so no redrills or wood filler. Are there any identifying marks I can look for? The serial is B089624 if that helps.

Also, as this is my first wood, what do I need to know to take care of this thing? Tools needed, parts needed, where I can find seals should I need them, etc.? You know, basic upkeep.

Thanks MCB!

Same up keep as any other sheridan. Make sure you play with it alot and get it dirty. Dont worry about messing up the stock, they are in high supply around here.

Parts can be had from PPS or american paintball's site.

My suggestion is sending it in to PPS and getting some upgrades like P-tune, wedgits, detente, and others.

But play with the gun first and see how you like it!

They like large OD paint.

I forgot, I DID play with it! My very first game with the thing was a (recball) speedball game with it. There's nothing like holding the fifty with a "rifle!" I got an exposed pack or two with it, but then stuck my foot out too far. Soo much fun!

I do need to run some Brasso on a nylon bore brush and shine up the inside of the barrel a bit.

Be careful with any brush through the bore. You can use the cotton looking 12 gauge brushes, they make big long ones that you can run through the entire barrel at once for only 10 bucks or something. It is cotton and soft. You probably dont really need to use a brush in it.

Agreed. If you just have to spin something in the barrel, get a rifle cleaning kit, chuck up the cleaning rod after you wrap it with something soft so it doesn't leave marks, put on the 12 gauge bore cleaner, add some brasso, and spin. Works wonders for that mirro shine.

I think that's an Assault Line tank cradle, I've got one for my kp2.

If I had to take a stab at it, I'd say you've got a kp2df there judging by the rocker safety trigger group and aftermarket CA adapter.

Guys, I'm torn. AGAIN. The face seal on this thing is blown, and I'm going to order another one from PPS. But then I got to thinking: What if I send them the KP, and have them work their MoJo on it? Obviously it would be a good idea, but I'm wondering if I should just slap on a new seal and shoot people with it. That's the conflict, spend $200 getting the stuff I want done to it at Palmer's and wait a couple months, or just get it working and have fun with it. Eventually, I want to get it Palmerized anyway, but when is the question.

For the sake of reference, here's what I want done:
- Quickstrip
- Performance Tune
- Wedgits
- Matte Nickel Plating (I'm in love with nickel...)

Any other thoughts? I'm debating just selling everything I've got and Hurricaning it, but I love pump play so much...

I'm also debating getting a spring feed or at least a feed tube put on there.

Thoughts, or maybe any other PPS suggestions? Would this be better over in the PPS section? Anyway, thanks.

Ah the MCB dilemma, you have a classic you want to leave as is. But you also want to increase the performance. The only answer is to buy more guns. I would slap a seal in it and finish out the summer. send it in this winter for your upgrades, while your on the phone you might as well order your hurricane. best of both worlds a pump and a semi.

Yeah, that is a good point. But I live in Texas, so we can play all year 'round. If anything, it's easier to play in the winter than in the summer! The fun never stops!

For the price difference, I think it's better to order a scratch built Hurc and leave the KP's alone. It's basically a wash either way (KP cost + conversion= new build price), so you might as well have a new marker.

Or just watch the BST, I'm sure you'll be able to pick up a used Hurc and save a little coin.
