i'd send that tool back then and wouldn't buy another from them. i wonder if they hardened the tool? i know my tool is. i've had it for probably close to 20 years and it's still like new.

try something a little hotter than a hair dryer.

Re: heat... yup, plenty experience with getting nuts out using heat. My concern was the lead washer melting and seeping into the threads making the whole bang shoot worse :S

it would take quite a bit to melt that lead washer i'd think. do you have a small pen style butane torch? i'd try that.
