Valve Guide Nut Removal

Right... I have come across a KP2.. and got the parts for refurbing it from PPS.

I have it all stripped down EXCEPT the Valve Guide nut. Before you say it... yes, I've read the stickies, yes I've done a search of the site.

Problem I have, the damned thing is seized in solid. Tried brute force, tried pentrating spray. One thing I haven't tried (hence reason for posting before I go and do myself or it a serious mischief... ) is Heat.

Obviously, the amount of solder / etc holding everything together is a concern. BUT is heat an option? I've already knackered one removal tool (the head is twisted out of proportion... and I really don't fancy having to order yet another one from PPS.

Help?

Melting point of Brass: 900°C to 940°C
Melting point of Aluminium 660.25 °C

A Propane torch can give off up to 1995 °C

I would try and dunk it in hot or boiling water first.

:edit:
Wait ... what exactly do you mean with valve guide bolt?

Do you mean the valve retaining nut?

Hot water is my suggestion. Or if your wife has a hair dryer that puts out some good heat.

I'm surprised the valve retaining nut didn't give out first... it is softer.

Are you turning it the right way?
