| The key is.... making a hole big enough in each tube for the ball to roll through and then canting the feed tube in such a way that the gap between it and the barrel is too small for a ball to fall out. Other than that, the exact dimensions mean little. "All BY myseelllf.... don't wanna BE! All BY myseeellllf.... (any more) |

| I have assembled two side tube PGPs, Drum has it nailed. Get the valve tube and the barrel attached temporarily so all the slots and holes are aligned properly, place the feed tube in the valley between the two tubes and mark a line where the barrel and feed tube touch. Remove the feed tube and barrel; drill a feed hole in the barrel along the line and at the front of the bolt. Drill a hole in the feed tube so that the feed plug is tangent to the hole. Reassemble the tubes after cleaning everything (no fingerprints!); be sure to include the brass tube that runs between the valve and barrel. Line up the holes and rotate the feed tube so that a ball can travel between the barrel and feed tube but not out the side when you have it close use a hose clamp on each end to hold the assembly in place (don't over tighten them or you will crush the tubes). Set two blocks of wood on your work bench at least a foot apart and place the tube assembly on top of them. Gently rotate the tube assembly until it does not rock, this will ensure that the tubes are parallel. Double check your barrel and valve tube, they should not be out of alignment vertically, this is your last chance to make them perfect. Finally make any fine tune adjustments to the alignment and rotation of the feed tube; you would be wise to try feeding a ball several times and to try to get one to fall out. Solder the tubes and you are good to go. |
