Need scenario/big game info for pistol play.

I'm really looking forward to attending LL5 this year and it will be my first big game/scenario. Locally I usually run with a Squall with 10 tubes giving me 110 rounds and enough 12ies to shoot that paint on my person when I play. I play with the same group of guys for the most part and we play different areas of the local field where there are various setups (castle, woods, spools, speed ball, etc) for two rounds, switching sides in between games. Afterwards we stroll back to the setup area to reload and then repeat.

I have a mule pack that I carry with extra 12 grams and three full 100 round pods (got that tip from AgentSmith) in case I need to reload tubes but usually don't need to as I'm pretty conservative with my shots.

My questions for you big game vets are:

How are these games structured? Is it a constant battle where you need to pack as much paint and air as you can as you get cycled back into the game or is it timed matches with opportunities to return to a loadout area or time to reload/rearm as you are moving from field to field? How much do you carry on you at a time?

I've combed the threads for info and read several things out there but also wanted to see what suggestions you'd recommend for gear for pistol players for these big games.

I have been to scenarios that have been setup both ways, but I believe LL5 is a series of long games (a couple hours each) with breaks for lunch, dinner, and sleeping. As for reloading...I guess you would have to have enough to last or just plan to get shot?

To be honest I'm not 100% on the format since I haven't played this specific game before. However, Viper's games are always mission intensive and missions can run the gamut from photographing an area for "recon" missions to keeping a certain area occupied for a set amount of time, to patrolling between two different waypoints on the field.

Now, I really almost exclusively play scenario, and for me I feel like around 300 rounds and enough air to shoot is generally enough to keep you in the game for a pretty long time as long as you're smart about using it. Unless I'm mistaken, this format should allow ample time for reloading between respawns most times because Viper uses a 10 minute opening every 10 minutes, so you can keep your gear near the insertion and simply reload there.

While we're talking about LL5, Steve "PrettyLou" Ruiz, the general for the New Empire in LL5 is my team captain, so I certainly hope all of my friends here in the Sidearms forum will roll with us at the game. I've already been talking to Smith and Antonio about it so we have the potential for a pretty epic group of pistol players to be rolling through CPX...

If you post up in the pensacola thread in the southeast section where bigballa hangs out, he has been a few times and can help point you in the right direction.

I honestly play with the same gear as with my regular field games. I am the same with being conservative with my shots. There are always plenty of people to give cover fire and when you run out of paint there are people to help out or simply keep paint/co2 at the respond for yourself. A locked case works wonders. I've never had a problem playing a big game with my pistol.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'm gonna check out the LL5 site when it opens and see what else I can glean from that.

What would you like to know Pack what you can and if it comes down to it you can take breaks whenever you want, people were having lunch while watching their teams and towns become over run. I never seen a person eat a sandwich so fast. The way it usually ran was 20 minute deadzones with 10 minute windows to reinsert. Pack what ya can, try not to over do it because I have seen people go into the battle extremely loaded to be one balled walk all the way back and wait to reinsert. Test the waters I played it like a regular game packed a little extra and was set. I was also the crazy one so.. different styles vary. BEST BET Pack a little extra than usual and give/take what you need down the line.

Thanks. Getting pretty stoked for LL5. Having a little something special built for me too.
