Tiberius T8 and Newer Magazines

I have an original Tiberius T8. I was looking for magazines, but it appears the originals aren't really easy to come by. However, the newer magazines say they support 8/8.1 and 9/9.1 models.

I bought one of the newer magazines (Tiberius Arms T8.1/T9.1 Paintball Pistol Magazine - 8 round), but it doesn't work. When I insert the magazine, it stops on something about 1-2mm short of being in the proper place (for the lock on the handle to catch).

If I remove the top half of the pistol, I'm able to connect the magazine to the internals, and the magazine slides through the bottom half and inserts all the way. But when the top and bottom are together, something is catching, and I can't seem to figure out what (many hours later...).

Has anyone else tried this or encountered this issue?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

take a look at the 8.0 mag and the 8.1 mag, I know that the 8.0 mags need to be modded to run in the 8.1

As far as I knew, the "new" mags are supposed to work in the older guns without modification. It's using the "old" mags in the 8.1's that you need to break out the file for.

I would call Tiberius and ask them directly. They are known for having good customer service and I'm sure they will help you out.

I have had this issue with several new .1 mags. I think the problem is two fold. First the mag's valve needs to be oiled. The dry oring in the top of the valve can provide a surprising amount of resistance on the stem. And second the hole in the valve seems just a little tight. I have taken and ever-so-slightly reamed out the valve cap(the black disk at the top of the valve). This has made it so that all my mags release easy. They just about jump out of my marker (even when I hold the marker upside down).

Hope this helps.

The red arrow indicates the piece I am talking about. Unscrew it, enlarge the hole a little, make sure it's clean reinstall, and place a few drops of oil in the valve through the hole. Should fix the problem right up.

Thanks everyone for your input, Undermine- You nailed it. For those who may have this problem and don't want to dremel the screw without being sure, I removed the screw/nut in the picture posted by Undermine, and the mag inserted smoothly. I dremeled the center bigger (just about to where the screwdriver notches on the top are), and now it inserts fully assembled.

On a side note, when I first put a CO2 cartridge in, it was leaking ever so slightly. However, after inserting the clip and firing off a few shots, when I ejected the mag, it wasn't leaking anymore. Not sure if this happens on all of the new mags or if due to the modification, but I'm guessing a little oil and use will help the o ring cover the proper space.

Thanks again, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the help- this has been driving me nuts for some time now.

I'm glad you got it worked out... I had the same problem and managed to get the mag inserted all the way but then I darn near needed a tractor to get it back out. As far as the amount of material removed all I did was use a small hand ream to remove just a tiny bit of material and it worked fine for me.. Of the six mags I have I had to do this with four of them. In spite of it I love my Tiberius. It's a great marker.
