By any chance, does the hole it makes when it pierces crooked? I have a problem with mine that is related to that...

hum, no, the hole is kinda nice and round...

But the stock seal O'Ring was really a piece of crap!
Too hard, strangely shaped (ever seen a round piece with an angle...?), I'm pretty sure the problem came 75% fro that (and maybe 20-25% from the twelvie not being pressed with enough force against this seal.

Now, everything seems OK...
We'll see it on Feb. 12, there's a big game over here.

It's a great gun, now that I have it on remote it's my go-to for crappy weather pistol play, but some manufacturing issues like the pierce seal and KEE's godawful customer service were enough to make me never want to purchase a KEE product again. It's one thing if something has a problem out of the box, but if you can't count on the company to fix it in a timely fashion and be honest with you about the status of the repairs... Nope, I'll pass.

I just picked one if these up to tool around with and it has the safety clips installed. I shot a 12g through it and got 38 shots off it and was impressed. Removing the spent 12g is a pain with the clips and I've read that the old no-clip sa-17s were fast to change so I removed the safety clips and tried it out. Worked great for the first 20 shots then leaked. Loaded another 12g and had the same performance. I'm curious as to whether the clips make a difference and didn't think it should matter. I think that maybe as the pressure in the 12g decreases it doesn't seal without the clips in place. Any ideas??

Did you try re installing the safety clips and loading a 12g? The older style had similar clips that were a little wider and plastic I believe. If you tried with no clips I can't see it holding a sufficient seal.

I asked this question a couple of months ago;

SA-17, are the 12 gram clips nessisary?

Installed the clips again and no leaks with 35+ shots.

Checked that link and it seems to indicate you can remove them but I don't know if I'm reading it right.

You can remove the two smaller clips but you have to leave the wider one in there for guidance still. Pro-tip: if you take the wider one out and stretch it a bit you can loosen it up enough that it makes the 12g really easy to remove.

I left the wider one in there and that's when I had the leak. I'm out of Lelands and bogarted some of my son's crossmans for his pellet gun. Possible that I just had a shorter two than usual but would that explain the 20 shots then leak situation I saw?
