Delta68 upgrade

I thought of putting this in Custom Projects, but I feel more 'pistol' people will see it here.

Well at the Monster Game, my friend Kenzo picked himself up a Delta68 Pistol in(of course) BLUE! Kenzo is a member of the Hell Survivors Mercenaries and occasionally takes the field with his powder coated blue PGP2K when he's not using his Blue Ego.

I offered to 'fix' it up for him and he foolishly accepted .

The only real drawback to the Delta68 is the pierce pin system. It uses a collar o-ring that seals around the neck of the 12gram. This doesn't always work with crosman co2s and though it works perfect with Brass Eagle brand 12grams, they vary in length so much that the lever changer often leaks! Other than this problem they are as good as any pistol out and already have a lever changer and dropout for the 12ies! So I had to figure out a way to convert the gun to use CCI Phantom pierce pins, which seal to the face of the 12gram, this means they work perfect with any brand of co2 and are more forgiving of variations in co2 length. In addition they outlast all other brands of pierce pin bigtime, 1,000 changes instead of 100 OR LESS!

So, by gutting the existing block, tapping the inside to 7/16-20(it was originally 7/16-16 which is a propietary size and no bolts can be found locally in it) and coring out a 7/16-20 bolt with a smaller(1/4-28) threaded hole for the pierce pin I got this:

The silver threaded plug is the old pierce pin block with it's new CCI pierce pin.

In addition I wanted to add an AGD Sydarm type front load port and that looks like this:

I've got to retune the springs to the new arrangement of parts inside and she'll be ready to rock. With the velocity at 240 it gets over 30 shots! I've also got to mill out a depression in the back of the pierce pin block for the valve spring to fit into, I'll get that tonight at work. It's getting there!

My brother is having a lot of problems with the 12 grams sticking (three or less cartridges before failure) and I was thinking of doing just that, thanks for the writeup!

Good Deal!
I've shot several hundred rounds of paint through it today in the yard at 270(where I try to start them) and it's working extremely well.
Nice pistol now that the co2 problem's handled!

Thumbs up

I knew putting it into the hands of Smith would be worth it. I'm greatly looking foward to taking it out.

The only question I have for people are recommendations for a dual pistol holster. I liked the look of the Cops911 Caster Troy Deluxe Holster but I can't find it anyplace. Was probably gonna have to just go with dual thigh holsters of some sort.

Well you know me, I'm very anti-thigh holster. Running jostles the pistol around too much, I like the tac holsters for firearms but bullets won't break in the Magazine like paintballs do!

If you want a Castor Troy Specops still has Moati carrying on the original designs:
BLACKCELL CUSTOM - CASTOR TROY HOLSTER
That'd be you all over in Blue, I bet they could make blue!

Still have to flexhone the barrel then it's ready!

Holsters

Go to Leather & Nylon Holster - The One Holster That Does It All! for holsters. I picked up a double-shoulder rig for my 3357s and it's quite nice. Best part is the holsters and rigs are expandable so you can convert them from belt to shoulder, single to dual, horizontal to vertical etc.

*edit* Sorry, that wasn't meant kneecap your plug Butch. Your custom work is sweet (in fact I may hit you up if my Squalls ever show up), just putting another option out there for more "off the shelf" nylon type holsters.

Not at all, Butch!
I'm taking Kenzo his new gun at the SPPL Qualifier this weekend, I've got my Miltec G2 and my old Armotech Zeus both working so I won't have to borrow it.
I think once he gets comfortable with firing it, he'll be a demon with it. It's actually a pretty nice design, although the weaver rail on top of the zeus mag is still easier to load into than a round top mag, it's got great pointability.
