What the heck (Trigun inspired Zeus rebuild)....

Ok I closed my other thread and started a new one all together. The main reason is this is now turned into a build and restoration thread. I am still looking to see what Spyder internal parts are interchangable with the Zeus so please offer up sage like wisdom. So now on with the weirdness.....

To start this odessey off I will elaborate on how it came to be. There was a torrid love affair that included a series of wild sex........opps wrong forum. SO it all started when I was younger watching old westerns with my Papa. He was a gun nut and taught me about rebuilding real steel firearms and all things about firearms. Fast forward alittle to the anime Trigun, drool the gun was weird and I loved it. SO fast forward alittle more and I saw the Zeus and it looked pretty damn close.

Enter the chrome Zeus G2, from fleabay. Yes tar and feather me I went to ebay. It looked the part, chrome shiny with lots of potential. I have used the various other pistols currently and previously available on several occasions and figured if i was going to play pistol it would be with a creation of my own. So I bid on it (kind of half assed) and oddly enough won. When I got it the wind went out of the sails so to speak, the gun appeared to be in working order save a missing mag plug. However it is missing everything north of the pierce pin and south of the valve housing. My guess is the the person who had it before had a bottom line on it and sold it off without the internals reinstalled. I discussed the problem with the seller and at one moment I was going to send it back but then the dream came back to me, build it and you will go broke. Heck yah I will keep it, got a partial refund and on I went.

First off I am going to mill the grip frame to accept a Balck hawk Ergo handle. As seen here.....

Looks like a good stand in for Vash's????

Next it is off to the mills to add the drop out slot and then slot out the body and the vent holes. Yeah I know won't be a perfect match but screw it.

I am also going to mill the mag for the top feed port too.

I already took the whole thing apart so you will have to wait for the rest. here is how it is now......

As I do the work on it I will try to get pics of the progress. Oh yeah a local store actually had rebuild kits for the Zeus on sale (score for only three bucks) and I got a Zeus G2 (yes another one) for dirt cheap that has all the internals I need. Down the rabbit hole...............................

Update..

Ok so I have machined in a drop out on the C02 area..

Milled in the drop in hole on the mag and got a butt plug for it......
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/...A/SANY3225.jpg

And finally I machined down the 45 grip to accept the Blackhawk AR15 handle, didn't do to bad cut just a smidge too much off one side though:(...

Getting the grip to fit right wasn't really that bad the only thing that concerns me is the really crappy AL that the grip was cast with. Time will tell how it holds up. Now on to the trigger guard and then the drive train.

Watching this one. Looks like it's gonna be sweet when you get it done...

They say necessity is the mother of invention. I think playing pistol could be it's step-mom. :D

I agree^^^^

Well last night I stripped the anodizing off what was anodized. In case any of you are wondering the trigger frame/grip are powder coated (at least on the G2 I have) took some doing but i get it off. Now to go over all of it with ScotchBrite to give it a brushed look. I got the other G2 in the mail. It was in good shape, however it was an earlier G2 (had Armotech stamped on it). Gutted it and took all the internals I needed. I might have it all together tonight for a test fire, if not I will this weekend.

And here she is.....

SO I have done what I could to it. Here is the run down..
Zeus G2+ (body and thats about it)
Zeus G2 internals (not really different)
Tuned springs (using Agentsmith's instructions)
Milled pierce plug (a little extra grip)
Milled drop out slot
Milled magazine (spring will pop out of the hole every now and then)
Custom milled grip with Blackhawk AR15 grip
Umm thats about it, now to wait for it to cool off around here so I can play more...and now the payoff.....think Trigun........
What I was thinking of...

And what is is.........

Overall I am happy with it so far, the future brings more tinkering and other possible mods. I am looking at fabbing up a CA by making a dummy or slug that replaces the expansion/pierce pin assembly and pipes along the side of the gun. For now the fun starts.:gunsfiring:

I like it! Probably the nicest Zeus I've seen.

Looks great :) nice work mate :)

All it needs is some kind of faux hammer sticking off of the feed plug...

Yeah something along those lines, I tried to stay with functional improvement versus cosmetic. I even had faux cylinder walls that would mount to the picatinny rails thought up.

Not done yet, I am trying to think of somehow changing the geometry of the pistol.
