Tinman was a sling virgin and managed after 1 try! It says primitive right on the tag! It's a 2 spin fling on a short leash.

I only use it among friends, if some tool with an electro gets backhit and spins to see me standing there with some string dangling from my hand he might be led into temptation... causing me to show off my quickdraw as well as a fair knowedge of pressure points. 3 or 4 about 2" below the collarbone on the gun arm will make him remember me for a few days.
That's why I love Hell Survivors. Now if I get spun on with my pistols, I just cover up secure in the knowledge the guy will be taillights to us, soon after.

That's an awesome looking sling.
Mine's the style with the band between two spokes - trouble is, I keep hitting myself in the hand!

More practise methinks...

We made it originally with loops on each end, riveted through the lace. My uncle Danny decided it should only have one, so he cut the loop open leaving the rivet for a nock. The one loop goes over the middle and ring finger of the sling hand, then the rivet on the other lace goes between forefinger and thumb.
As long as you keep your fingers held together it's a snap to use.

Slingshots always make me think of a story by Patrick McManus. He was a writer for field and stream, and one of his funny articles collected in 'A fine and pleasant misery' was about an arms race he and a friend got into with slingshots that led to the creation of 'Whomper'.
Quote:
Whomper was a two foot chunk of a forked section of a thornapple tree with woven bands of rubber thick as a logger's wrist and a pouch made from an entire tongue of a leather boot. All of the contents held together with bailing wire."
It's only fired twice, I won't spoiler the story!

With standard slingshots I bend my wrist slightly, tilting my fist to the ground.

Be careful.

I took my radarchron to my friends slingshot, and it was upwards of 600 fps...

There's no wonder why David killed Goliath...

Yeah, there's no worries about this one, got a really low power band on it - but I'll be checking the chrono just the same this sunday when I give it a try.
I heard a tip from someone; if you tie some paracord between the band and the grip, you can ensure you get a more consistant pull and not accidentally exceed limits.
