| Now selling replacement AFT clips.... Hey, what's up guys -
Wow, I can't believe it's been over 6 months since I first posted about this! Sorry, I actually did get it all sorted out several months ago, but then I started a new job and my wife had endless new projects for me to do around the house.
I tried adding different types and amounts of black dye, but there must have been some sort of chemical reaction, because the plastic became very brittle. I ended up biting the bullet and buying black pre-dyed resin from the manufacturer and that did the trick. The attached pic shows the two types of clips I can make, the "curvy" one mounted on the left AFT, and the "straight" one mounted on the AFT to the right. With the embedded wire reinforcements, they are both pretty strong. The straight one is probably slightly stronger, but the curvy one looks better on the gun, IMHO.
If you are interested, I will sell 2 clips (either style, or one of each) with U.S. shipping included for $15 (paypal). for the nit-picky, I must admit that the surface on one end is not glossy-perfect. You can see the difference in second picture. The clips on the right show the rough side. That side is where the mold is open and where I pour the plastic into. There is usually some extra plastic that I have to sand off so it ends up flat. If you are inclined to, I'm sure you can fine-sand and buff it into the same glossy finish as the other side, but for me, that's way too much work for a utilitarian piece.
If you want some of these clips, please PM me here and we can work out the details.
Thanks!
Rico
