Squall Configuration Questions Well, the time has come. I've taken my skirt off and decided to finally splurge on the pistol I've always wanted: the PPS Squall. It was a tough decision choosing the Squall over the PGP Stroker, with the main issue being the Squall's front-heaviness , but I'm sure that's nothing a little practice can't remedy. The only thing I'm currently undecided on is how I'll configure my Squall. I know some of you have first hand experience with this gun so I figured I'd bring my queries here instead of wasting Craig's time with my stupid questions. Like most pistoleers, I'm extremely anal about finding the perfect setup to match my preferences. Here's the setup that I have in mind so far: - 8" or 9" barrel (breech to muzzle) - PMI grips - Quick-Silver Changer - Feed Plug Leash - Pro-Touch Trigger Upgrade - Side Mounted Feed Tube - Partridge style iron sights Now for the stupid questions: - Do the PMI grips do the job or should I invest in the 45 style? Do the 45s make the gun more well-balanced? - Is the Pro-Touch trigger even necessary? Is the stock trigger pull heavy to the point where it affects your accuracy? To give you some reference, a PGP Stroker's trigger pull is just a tad bit too heavy for my preference. - Does the feed plug leash inhibit eying down the sights? - Is a side mounted feed tube a possible modification? In your opinion would it be practical? I like the idea of sighting down the actual barrel rather than sighting down the top of the feed tube, but I'm not sure if the cocking ram and reg would allow for such a modification. - Does the Squall come with a QEV? If not, should I add it to the list? - Would Craig be able to construct a Partridge style Iron sight with Fiber Optic inlays or should I just have a picatinny rail installed and buy the sight myself? Here's a sample pic of a Partridge sight, the white representing fiber optic inlays: ![]() - Does Craig do custom anodizing? Or would I have to send the gun to a private anodizer to get the dust white finish I'm looking for? Most of these questions could be answered if I had the opportunity to hold and tryout different styles, but unfortunately since I'm located in NY, that's difficult. Hopefully I can pick your brains enough to come to a final conclusion. Any advice or information is much appreciated Last edited by Glitch; 01-06-2008 at 02:21 AM.

I'll try to answer a couple: 1st---They no longer do the Quicksilver due to inconsistent 12 gram sizes 2nd---No need for the Pro-Touch. The triggers rock now and the 45 is a personal choice 3rd---No need for a QEV 4th---You Cannot annodize brass, but you could have it powdercoated. And yes PPS can do the powdercoating

holy crap that was fast! I knew I made a good choice posting this here. It's a shame they don't produce the quicksilver changer anymore, that was one feature I was very interested in. thanks a lot for the information Gringo, 'appreciate it.

It amazes me how many people ask about the Quicksilver, considering that it's been gone a while... I've had strictly electro players who know nothing of the brass world look at the speedfeed on my Palmerized KP, and when I mention that it's a Palmers creation ask if it's a Quicksilver... Apparently its legend is uh legendary. I have a feeling that if they started making them again with a warning about sizes, there'd be a market for them. I've got on on a nasty Houndstooth, and when I stick to Crosman 12ies I'm all set.

They actually put the iron sights on several markers (several squalls at that), and it used to be an option (I've got'em on a KP) but I discovered recently that they no longer carry them, and don't plan to any time soon. | |
