Some stupid impulse questions...

So I have a couple questions about an old impulse I just picked up in a trade.

The first being, is there a way to run it without an lpr? I have seen lots of imps
Over the years and some had lprs on the front and others did not.
I really don't like the look of the lpr on it and would prefer not to have anything
Sticking off the front if possible.

Second, were the feednecks threaded or press fit?

So I can just take the lpr off and put a plug in it?
Or I there something else I need to do with it?
And yeah I managed to get the
Feed neck out without damaging anything.
