So a couple nights ago I got tired of the problem and decided to make my own.
I've had this little button for years- it's ripped out an old Extreme Rage LCD grip.
Some judicious use of carefully-cut transparent scotch tape seems to be keeping it in place so far.

Finally got an Ion and I was planning on giving the Epihany button a try but I'm not hating stock all that much. They're cheap so I may change my mind and update how it goes. I can't get the gun to stay on so the button isn't my worry right now, I'm guessing I bought a brand new bad Duracell 9V.

I had problems with my Ion turning itself off.
I tracked this down to:
1. Eye wires being pinched an shorting out together
2. Battery harness wearing apart and needing replacing.

Actually it was the laser eye unit I installed, stock works fine. The laser unit seemed to have a problem whenever the gun was fully assembled, when those screws were tightened down it shut the gun off, or prevented it from being turned on.

Sounds like a substandard component with inadequate insulation on the eye board causing a short when it contacts the body.

Who made the eye board?
