$%*@ Ion power button

Other than forking over the scratch for the virtue replacement power button, is there a way to make this thing easier to press?

I'm getting tired of having to dig my car keys out of my pocket and jam them against every quadrant of the button, hoping that eventually I'll be able to turn my gun off and leave the field.

You can get an Ion XE button for alot less, think Hustle has them.
They don't fit all frames, you may have to do a little bit if filing or sanding on the button.2 out of 3 fit my frames, the other I had to file to make the slot a bit bigger
I hate the power button too,the Virtue one is definitely a huge improvement

I use an epiphany power button on my ion's stock frame, and it works perfectly. Especially with that Virtue board, it's got that instant on BAM.

... wait, you have an Ion?

I may have an epiphany button laying around. I used those on a couple ions, but it was hit or miss on how well it worked. On one frame, it was a simple swap. On another, i had to shave some material off the button but even then it wasn't 100% effective. They fit the later stock frames better, since the hole was shaped for the epiphany button. Let me know if you want me to look for it.

You'd probably be better at this than me, but the stock ion button "jewel" is really basic - it's just a nub on a sticker. Maybe design a new nub? I grew rather fond of the stock jewel (even after the epiphany button trick), mainly because i used an Ion for years and knew exactly where to press my thumbnail.

Yep. I've got an Ion I've modified with an offset scope mount. It's my one remaining "serious" gun. I actually used it yesterday at Insane to get rid of some old paint, though with my Sportshot it coudn't really get more than four shots without a good shake.

I've had my Ion's jewel off before and glued it back into place, though it didn't really seem to fix anything.

Hm. Could you replace the jewel with something like a stiff spyder rubber detent? Something relatively soft that can prod the board button a bit more directly? I equate the jewel to trying to hit an elevator button with a buttcheek, while something like a rubber nub detent is a little more... precise.
