Ion Randomly Not Shooting In the Cold

Just a Quick Question... I was recently playing with my internally stock ion in 35 degree F weather and occasionally it would stop firing. If I layed low for a minute it would begin to fire again. Also using a pretty new battery. Anyone know what might be going on? a few weeks later I was playing indoors at about 60 degrees and had no problems with same battery even. Thanks for whatever help I can get...

it's the cold... i'm sure most, if not all, electros will do exactly what your ion did at 35 degrees...

using CO2 or HPA?

Using CO2 around that temp and lower will not work

Sorry, no I was running air. It was pretty frustrating to have it periodically just stop shooting. I would like to understand the problem and solve it if possible. Thanks for the input so far. Something to do with the eyes possibly? My cousin was playing as well and his ion was doing the same thing. Electro spyders running CO2 were not having this problem, and yes i know that they operate entirely different from each other but just another reference point. Thanks again.

I see this happen all the time on spool valve markers. Take it apart and while lubricating, try diluting that trendy dow-33 crap with some real airgun oil. The lube paste that most people use these days just happens to seize up and turn even more viscous when the temperatures drop.

russc, that sound reasonable. Do you think the gun would sound like it is working but stuck though? It made no attempt to fire. It was like nothing was happening at all. It might as well have been turned off. You know what I mean? If it was stuck it seems as though it would at least make some noise like it was trying to fire. What do you think?

Hm. Most of the guns I see with the problem I described make a chuffing noise at least. I say try it out and try to diagnose through deduction. If it doesn't work, then at least you know it's something else.

I just took it to the shop where I purchased the gun and they took it apart and said that it was actually maybe too dry inside. So they relubed it and said that was probably the problem. I guess no way to find out until I get back out into the cold for another go. Thanks for the help.
