| Newbie | to get is set perfectly for max bps and max effiency is like suction timing an autococker just a little easier you have to play around with all the setting. If you have your dwell to low you may have to increase input pressure two high and you cant fire as fast and you are losing effiiency. |

| Active Member | Junky....are you talking a stock board, bolt and lack of QEV? If you are, your dwell can be lowered to about 48ish but not much more. I never subscribed to the "Magic 48" Theory because every marker's different, even consecutive serial numbers.... Set your ROF to 13, dwell to 48 and see if it's faster. It won't go much lower because the bolt's too heavy and the marker will just go ::thuk:: ::thuk:: ....like it's out of air. If your marker's stock, I suggest the following: * CLIPPARD Qev (not a SP 360) * ANY lighter bolt...I love my Lucky Paintball bolts (have had all 4)...the V3 LBM bolt is the shiz right now, so is the L6 and L7 from TechT * Lucky Stage 4 board with MAC or SP noid. The reason I say Lucky's is that the programming's better. It's got true 1:1 millisecond dwell settings plus Unlimited ROF if that's your desire. If you set it up right, you can have a true dwell of ZERO...unlike other boards where the "0" is actually 6 ms (like the TBoard) and the MAC noided board shoots at ZERO. |

| where can i get the clippard qev i was thinking of getting one from palmer-pursuit shop. and i been looking at the techt bolts i dont think i need a new board due to the fact i play rec speed/woodsball and dont need that much of a preformance inhance. just a qev and bolt would be fine and maybe a reg later down the line b/c mine seems to be doing really well. Thanks |

| Active Member | then I suggest a Lucky Bolt and he also sells the Clippards with the quick disconnect (it's like a macro connector as opposed to a barb). You can find them here http://www.buyluckypaintball.com/ser...ts+for+the+Ion Now, I bought a used TechT L6 bolt because I wanted to test the fastest speed of my Ion and I didn't want to shear my LBM bolt (at 35 bps) so I bought aluminum for that purpose. I really like my Lucky bolt (over the TechT)...it's light, reduces felt recoil (not that it's much to begin with) to about zero and the delrin-like material is self-lubricating. You still need to dow33 it though (for the ORings) but it's a very nice bolt. Except for the frame, my Ion's completely tricked with Stage 5 (original body), Stage 4 MAC board, CP trigger & reg, Trinity on/off with bleed, Freak, Lucky detents, Lucky eyes, Clippard QEV and membrane pad. I have a VLocity to feed her. If you get the LBM and the Clippard, you can set your dwell lower...to about 10-15 (total) milliseconds and still get good recharge and consistancy at the chrono. Shoot a case or 2 to break the bolt and qev in before lowering your dwell. After your stock reg is broken in and you still don't like it, get a CP Long reg. That's what I use and I love it. Easier to maintain and adjust (and looks better). Here's a pic of mine... ![]() ![]()

| Active Member | It's an original 1/99 Lucky Stage 5 body in black/red dust (1/15 in that color scheme I think). They now make the Stage 5.1 bodies but they are autococker barrel threaded (Feednecks are still Imp threaded though) if you want one like it. The "Classic" is the one that resembles mine (I believe). Go here... http://www.buyluckypaintball.com/ser...rt=21&total=40 to buy one

| Well thank you very much i think i may go with the LBM, but cant find it on the site, or the L7 as you say along withthe qev w/ disconnect. Thanks for the help and your ion is very snazzy. I too have a cp trigger i may get the cp reg in a few months. I like my stock black look but it is my preference but your ion is very very very nice 3 clappy guys for you oh and i understand most of my gun and terms being new to the electronic ones, but can i get a definition for dwell it just isnt clicking in my mind. Thanks to all Last edited by SportsJunky; 01-03-2007 at 06:04 PM. |

| Active Member | EDIT: I just checked...they are out of stock and were removed from the storefront until they restock more. Dwell (in an Ion) is the amount of time in milliseconds the board assigns the bolt in it's forward position. It's also referred to as "Recharge" adjustment in many of the Ion's aftermarket (and "ROF" adjustment on a stock) board. So, the less time in ms you assign the board, the shorter the time the bolt is forward and the less time the marker recharges with air. Unless you have a high-flowing noid like Lucky's redesigned MAC noid, lowering your dwell setting can create 'shoot-down' problems because you are starving the marker for air. A standard SP Ion noid dumps the excess air (in the 'dump cycle') by back-tracking it through the noid. This is the reason a stock Ion needs 52 clicks (58 ms I believe) of dwell to operate the bolt at full cycle. Adding a QEV to the system (the center banjo gets replaced with the QEV) allows that excess air to "dump" at the QEV instead of going back through the noid and that allows you to lower dwell settings significantly. The QEV also actls like a grease trap to help keep gunk out of the noid. If you can help it, DON'T get the SP 360 QEV. They have been 'hit-or-miss" with working properly. Any Clippard style works best and the QD is better than a barb fitting.
