''Shoebox'' Shocker Question

For all the ''Shoebox'' gurus out there:

I'm looking to buy a ''Brick'' Shocker soon and I am looking at the newer '01-'02 models with the vertical feeds. Are the realatively newer shoeboxes as accurate and reliable as the old 4x4s and Turbos? Any specific year I should be looking for? Thanks.

Smart Parts does not change guns for each year. They do however change things and when they run out of the old part they will start putting on the new one. (That is why you will see shockers with 2 finger trigger guards and single finger triggers. They ran out of single finger trigger frames and started putting doubles on.) They do the same thing now. There is no different years just different up dates.

I would get a '01 or newer because they were slightly lighter... not that you will be able to notice and they also had the LS boards which made it easier to fire faster (IMO). From what I've seen having owned a few 98 model shockers and a 02 I couldn't tell a difference between the two as far as accuracy or reliability.

An 01-02 Shocker will have the LS board as mentioned above and it gives it the ability to make use of aftermarket Impulse triggers (like from New Designz or CP) which would make it certainly easier to fire faster. The LS board is supposedly capped at 13 bps, but many say the old Shockers are limited by the gun's design to just a hair over 11 bps and there isn't anything a board can do about it. 11 bps is still plenty fast, not that any MCBers need to be told that!

An 01 model will have 4 grooves in the side of the gun, an 02 will have 5, these and the late "Limited Editions" or Shockers with the "Planet Milling" will have threaded feednecks. Any Smart Parts threaded feedneck will work flawlessly...
