Depends on where you shop. They were going for $720 when I picked up my XDm for $600 (after taxes) in Arkansas.

There are retailing around $550-650 last I looked.

Yep, they're already out. I hate pinky hang too, but I've hear this allows you to have 3/4 of the pinky on the grip. That's all subjective though, I have gorilla hands so mine will prob still hang off.

I want it so I can print less in summer clothes vs. my full frame XDm.

I'm thinking compact as opposed to sub compact. I used to carry a Commander sized 1911 all year, so a standard compact should be fine.

Seems like you and I discussed it earlier John, but isn't the .40 able to accept 9mm mags and barrels, but but not vice versa?

Alex, if I had air I would. There are a couple of good timing articles around here. Seems one is in Vintage Rex, or tied to Vintage Rex or some such.

The regular XDm can be considered Commander length if you go by the 1911 dimensions. Yeah we had that chat. When dealing with these guns it's better to start with the .40 if you're considering conversion barrels.

You can put a .357 or 9mm barrel in the .40 and use the same mags but not the other way around. I love my .40.

It's way easier than people make it out to be, watch a timing video on youtube and you shouldn't have problems.

Take a hard look at the Springfield XD/ XDm line. Springfield makes an outstanding gun and I was very skeptical of the XD line when they came out, but they're tried and true and I hope I can get one soon.

For those that don't know, I was in Law Enforcement for nearly 6 years. I worked on the street, as a detective and in Special Operations. I've shot multiple guns in multiple calibers and often assisted the Firearms Instructor/ Range Master for more shooting time/ free ammo.

So, any advice I may give comes from years of actual experience.

Josh this price was for 2 setups... the single set up is 450... and i didnt like the feel of the springfield, not to mention the price..... also the p220 is what i really want but starts at 550 and goes up steaply, i really am just looking for a full sized 45 with a 10+ mag comfortable and reliable... easy to clean... but if i can throw another 300 on that and get a carry weapon as well.. i like the idea... and if my girl gets a 9mm set then we can have 2 guns in 2 barrel sizes in 4 different setups, sub / full, med frame and thin frame, 9mm and 45 for the total cost of around 1500

Alex, it's worth giving it a shot. Worse comes to worse, you end up paying someone else to do it.

John, that's what I thought. I'm going to look into a Bitone, compact .40 XDm.

Matt, I gotcha. I typically look at used gun prices, unless I just find a deal on a new one.

My brother had a P220 that I wanted, but he sold without telling me. Pissed me off!

$1500 for 4 is not bad at all. I put that into one setup! of course, it was a Caspian 1911 w/ gustom leather and accessories.
