I bought a NOS original Chinese sling to complete the package. I'm not a fan of sporterizing surplus battle rifles unless they're FUBAR'd and in need of a complete restoration, then it's not a big deal.

I do as well, just not to a pristine piece. I wouldn't think twice on something like an old Mauser or Mosin that wasn't worth anything as far as collector value.

I'd like to have a nice sporterized 1903 someday too.

I think I'm going to make a sporterized Mosin. May even cut the barrel down. Well, have it cut down. I can get a Mosin for sub $100.

Now, THAT IS AWESOME!!!!

Only sad part is you would need a tax stamp (class 3) for that SBR..
However, I've recently learned about a way to do class 3 weapons with FAR LESS headache then the traditional method of having to get finger printed, and having your local sheriff sign off on it, and all that other non-sense.

Yeah, you can go with a trust. It's how I plan to do both my SBR and Suppressors. My local LGS has stripped lowers in stock that came in as SBR lowers so I want to pick one of those up but I may wait until I get ready to pick up a can.

Oh, and John, that thing would break your wrist.

Precisely...found a lawyer back in FL that would set up a trust for $300 -- and was WELL versed in setting up trusts for the Class 3 guys.

I've been looking for a DIRT CHEAP lower to pickup..want to do an AR build in the near future - just need to find a really cheap lower. Want to do a "economy build" yet with really reliable parts!
