They take your fingerprints electronically there in a giant scanner of sorts and they submit it. I did it this way on a wednesday and next tuesday had my permit in mailbox

For GA we go to the Probate court, fill out the paperwork and the take your pic. You pay them and they give you the fingerprint cards to take to the SO. Pay them and they use the electronic fingerprint scanner. Mine took two weeks.

Edit: I think I'm done with the gun thing for awhile. Well, buying/ selling/ trading that is. Pretty content with where I am so I'm going to focus on accessories and ammo.

Easiest way is to make an appointment at your local department of agriculture division of licensing. It's streamlined and you do everything you need right there. Walk in, 15 minutes later walk out and wait for your permit to process.

Excellent choice with the M&P. You'll need a threaded barrel if you ever wanted to put a suppressor on it. Plus a good amount of disposable income considering they are more of a novelty. I recommend the gemtechs.

As for prints, depending on where you are in the state, there is usually a police dept. that has the ability to do the prints electronically. Most of them here in Central FL do them on paper. You have to find the ones that have the ability to do it electronically. IDK about a two week turn around as some have stated. They must have reallllly cut down on that back log.

I got mine towards the end of last year and it took a little over 2 months or so. Another buddy got theirs closer to 3 months after submitting it.

The state passed 1 million CCW permit holders last year and with everything going on, I'm glad they finally caught up with applications.
