| I go to school in Salem (town right next to Roanoke). Supposedly there used to be a bunch of nice woodsball/rec fields around here, but most have closed in the past couple of years. The only field I've checked out down here is Wolf's Ridge, but it's up in Riner (about 35 minutes from Salem, 45 from Roanoke). It's a really small operation, but I was really happy with it. Only 2 fields, but they're spacious and laid out well. The refs there were good and most are old school (I pulled out my Grey Spirit and immediately had a ref recognize it and start talking to me about playing "back then"). Entry fee is very cheap ($10 + $8 for all-day air) and I believe it's BYOP with no charge for it. The paint there varies, but they usually have at least one nice brand and prices are fair (very pump friendly - they'll sell you paint by the hundred and cost is proportionate). They have a website here: Welcome to Wolf's Ridge Paintball, Inc.. Hope that helps! |
