Palmer's Pursuit Shop brass barrel is too small for pump handle

Hi all,

I just discovered and signed up for this forum. I'm very happy to see its existence as I am a new Sterling STP owner.

I recently purchased a 12" Palmer's Pursuit Shop brass barrel for the marker. I wanted something that would be both accurate and maintain the clean lines of the design. This barrel definitely meets those criteria, however the outer diameter of the barrel is much smaller than the inner diameter hole through the pump.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I can minimize the slop? Can someone make me some kind of sleeve to create a more snug fit? Is it possible to get a pump handle with a smaller hole? Is there a way to stabilize the pump arm?

thanks,
Brad

Usually for pumps, they put a sleeve outside of the barrel to compensate for it, if you haven't used the barrel, give them a call and see if you can get an exchange for it for one with a sleeve, I assume what you bought what the new sterling with the spyder threads.

I told them I was purchasing the barrel for a Sterling STP and they mentioned nothing about any kind of sleeve. What is the sleeve usually made of you are referring to?

Yeah the barrel has Spyder threads.

thanks,
Brad

It's a copper sleeve that they use to fatten the OD of the barrel and it's glued on, I know when I got my phantom barrel, that's how they did it, maybe you're the first to buy one for a sterling Stp? You can see it in the link below, the one picture is coated but I got mine raw.

That's exactly what I need. I emailed PPS...I'll see what they say.

thanks,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on this barrel upgrade. I provided PPS with CAD drawings for a barrel sleeve. They machined and attached a delrin sleeve to my specs that extends from the breech of the barrrel to the uncocked front position of the pump handle. It's a very snug fit so the pump handle has very little play now. If anyone is interested I could make the drawings available and show some pics.
