Great idea.

I mean no offense by this BUT isn't it easier to just turn a Raptor barrel .250" and not ruin an older Sterling body?

I have a Proline Sterling and I wouldn't even think about cutting the body up, but that's just me. Like I said I mean no offense because this is a good idea ..... it's just not for me.

Turbowagonman:thanks and no problem , a constructive criticism is not an offense
about raptor barrel, for me ,it's not easy to find and ,if i don't make a mistake,it's old barrel without small bore size .
I understand your fears, there is indeed the risk of ruining the body

Good mod, raptor barrels are uncommon and any barrel can be turned to fit this now

It's not a bad idea, but personally I hate having bare aluminum showing.

Weren't there some Phantom barrels modified for the Sterling?

Yes, Super_Stanchy was doing them before he started to move. I was going to get one done but with him moving and all that project is "kind-of" on the back burner for now.

OP I don't think I ever seen someone do your mod before, way to think outside the box and meet your need with what you have available. A smaller thumb screw would look cleaner, but hey old broken elbow screws are better than nothing.

I got one of the phantom barrels from SSC. Works nicely, shoots just fine and no more rollouts. Very similar OD to a stock sterling barrel so only slightly more play in the handle than normal, hardly even noticeable different.

the threads are raw, but of course don't show when on the gun.
