sterling threaded freak back

Hi

I play with my sterling since 2010 or 2011. It's a stp 2007 version. The biggest problem on it (it's my own opinion) it's not a real closed bolt. Between the bolt and the barrel, the ball isn't really in the insert.

My idea was to buy a new sterling threaded body to change mine and put on it a barrel with freak inserts. But in France, it's not easy to bore a sterling barrel.

My questions are:
-who can make me a freak back for my project?
-if the back isn't possible, what's the barrels are good to rethread it and have a barrel kit with a large range of bore?

Thanx

Marc

Wait... are you saying that the bolt doesn't push the ball into the barrel?

If you load the gun up with balls, pump it once and unscrew the barrel, does the ball fall out of the breech?

On the spyder threaded ones it doesnt go into the barrel, like on a phantom.

On the sterling threaded ones it goes into the barrel, like a cocker

Exactly. I have a jubilee body but as I will disgrease my bag this month, I want to keep a open class for the tournaments. And I'm sure, with the sterling thread barrel, I'll have a lower preassure to shot competition grade paintball.

I'm not airsmith and if somebody can make me a back, I'll be happy. Perhaps, others players will be interested?

Oh! I had no idea. :/

I'm trying to find a trustable airsmith to re-thread barrels to Sterling thread for me. I have few requests out to reputable people, but no answers as of yet. I'll let you know if I strike gold.

If you end up with a sterling body, find yourself a feak kit for a raptor, the threads are the same as a sterling.

You do need to the trim the barrel back a little to get it to fit into the sterling bore but much easier than trying to get someone to make you a freak.

I just checked and it looks like Hobbes had a one for sale not that long ago.

Ty Mckneer makes and sells small bore brass inserts

Ssc answered me. But he can't now... Perhaps in June or July. If someone know another solution or people who can make that, I will buy 5/6 pieces for French sterling players

I have a raptor freak back for sale, but someone had it cut for another cheapy Brass Eagle pump so it's now 1/4" too short. I figured someone could add a spacer or something to make up for it.

I don't know why all this is such a big deal, I was able to get a brand new barrel kit from j&j for lower than $100 usd. Personally, I think its much nicer than a freak kit. Custom made to order and all.
