A thought for futher disscusion

While in this thread http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/b...ocks-sale.html

I had these thoughts

Quote:
posted by me
OT
I think he means that he doesnt know wht they are worth so he just wants a decent offer from anyone that could use one. If thats the case, which I think it is, I dont particulary have a problem with it as hes an upstanding member and all. Maybe all you mods should discuss having a members only subsection sale thread for a "make offer" type of thing, so long as id doenst get abbused and turn into an ebay bid um up thing. I dont know maybe Im getting soft

EDIT Mods feel fre to delete this post, Im not trying to step on any toes or go against authority or any such thing, just had the idea and figured Id psot, but having done so I think it might have been better to post this in the suggestion area. So that having been said Im going to delete this post shortly and move it to said area and leave a link here
I know its been a long standing rule to post a price, and I have been in favor of tha rule, however I do see the reasoning for not posting a price when it comes to somthing you just want to sell and mke someone a good deal. I have not thought this through at all so this post is from the hip.

Brought these home from a moving sale and wife said get this junk out of my house. More clutter she wants gone. Now if I had brought home 7 actual firearms she would have been like oooo which ones are mine.

I think it would work... If you don't know how much something is worth, you will guess and you could get ripped off or no one will bid because it's too high.

There just needs to be a price that someone can see the thread and say "I will pay your asking price" and it is settled immediately. It should be a reasonable price not "10,000 dollars..make an offer"

I agree with Pizza...I'm worried I'll get ripped off if it's up to me to decide. Sometimes sounds a little fishy if they aren't posting a *reasonable* price

Pizza- That's why you ask, and we have the bluebook on here. On older markers and equipment you can always ask if it's a good deal or not.

I'll still stick with posting a price. But then again with unique finds like that, I can see it being tough asking a price, But I'm sure a price could be thought up & posted.

If the price was too high, everyone would look at it once, then ignore it because it's too high(at least that's what I do..). If it's to low, you'll get ripped off.

Why?
Seller posts a price he is willing to part with a product. That price is what he/she thinks it is worth.
If the price is high, then post a "OBO". And don't worry, even if you don't post the "OBO" someone or two will tell you nicely that you are smoking crack

What he said.

It has been a rule that has set MCB apart from others for awhile.

If people dont know what a gun is worth, then make a thread in the "ask the experts" section and ask. Once they get some input, they can make a for sale thread. A price can be found, it just involves so extra work, which some people arent willing to do.

Hmm.... I dunno... Now that you put it that way it sounds a lot better.
