"Price my gun / For sale" threads in the "Ask the Experts" section

I've noticed a few people posting "price my gun package" or "price my misc. stuff" questions in the "Ask the Experts" section of the site, which are fine on their own, but it also seems that people are just skipping the "B/S/T" thread and conducting business through the original thread.

It just seems to clutter the "Ask the Experts" forum. I'm not suggesting that "Price my Gun" threads be done away with entirely, but merely that more rules be added (i.e. don't post "Paypal and M/O only" or "No Trades" and things like that outside the B/S/Ts, or that all offers be made by PM).

Thanks for taking the time to read this, anyway!

Hmmm. Is this worthy of making an "appraisals section?" Of course, with the condition that sales will not occur within those threads. Maybe make it a sub-section of the BST area or VintageRex area? Although there may be some redundancy in the threads, if an asking poster later places it for sale in one of the BST areas. Although, many like me may just be curious about the value of something they own, without plans of selling. Just thinking out loud.

I do enjoy looking through the "Ask the Experts" section for technical and repair info, and for the occassional 'what the heck is this?' thread...and I think removing the price-info seeking queries may clean it up a tad and keep it, well, more technical.

I agree with Luke. I say make a place just for that. I know I have run across things I had no idea what they might be worth and this also might cut down on people posting FS/FT adds with unreasonable asking prices and taking bids via PM.

I had asked for some pricing info/2nd opinion on several items I just put up for sale, I'll delete my thread to help clean things up!

Aww, I'm not trying to bash you. I think part of what makes MCB great is that there are so many knowledgeable people who can tell you what your stuff is worth, and help you out with it.

I was just a little confused by both the clutter of "sale" stuff, and the "auctioning" that seemed to be going on.

Thanks for thinkin' on this, guys!

No problem, but you're absolutely right, it does clutter things up quite a bit with a lot of "what's my stuff worth so I can sell it and buy someone else's stuff that posted to see what their stuff was worth" threads floating around.

Maybe they could play up the "Gallery Ratings" and add a "Price my Gun' feature? I just noticed your beautiful gallery of photos

I think the "ask the experts" forum does just fine. Ive seen tons of folks using that way.
