New BST sticky. Please delete old threads.

Could we get a sticky up in the BST's with a quick how to on deleting your own thread once you have sold your items? something along the lines of:

------------------------------------------------------------------

Please delete your old/sold sale threads. It helps to unclutter our For sale sections, and makes MCB just that much better.

Its easy as 1-2-3

1. Click the Edit button at the bottom of your first post in the thread

Looks a bit like this:

2. Now click Go advanced on the bottom right of the edit window.

Ohh, red:

3. Now select "Delete Message", then click "Delete this Message"

And... Tada!:

Now go and delete your long ago sold for sale threads before they come to life, as the "Undead threads"

------------------------------------------------------------------

Something like that would be cool.

Lots of folks like to look through old sales for pricing research, etc. Lock 'em if you want to prevent things from coming back from the dead.

autolocking "vintage" threads ?

I personally find old BST threads helpful - they act as a sort of archive of how common and valuable certain items are. Locking is probably a better idea.

Well it seems there is alot of, one or two post threads floating around the top now, and people just putting "mod please delete". Just trying to inform people how to delete them. But I do see where you are comming from on the research/ gun porn aspect.

This would be very useful for those who make WTB threads. That way once they acquire the item they are looking for they can delete it. Would help so that they do not keep getting posts/PMs asking if they want such and such.

Yeah.. it's a tough call to lock old threads, but I understand.

Actually, just a simple: The gun is SOLD

by the seller would suffice.

Why delete it? I find it very useful to search through the sold items to get an idea of the value of another one.

I mark the items as sold in my threads, and leave the prices there for others to see.

yeah, i don't want to see them deleted. just as others have stated, people use it as a guide at times.

maybe you could make a sub-forum section specificly for threads that have items that are sold. have a way in the edit section so the seller can choose to move his own sale thread to that sub-forum when the item is sold. that way the sold items will not clutter things up and if someone wants to know what things have sold for they can go to that to the "sold" sub-forum to see.

i'd also like to see a rule for selling that requires the seller to leave up the price they are asking. i've looked at many sales that have SOLD where the price was and it aggrivates the piss out of me... and not because it's sold before i could buy it... but because i like to see what things are sold for. now i know some people will say, "by removing the price it lets people know that the item is sold because they can't find a price"... and that is very true... well, so will SOLD in bold print right beside the asking price.

My thoughts exactly.
