I totally agree with you. I wouldn't want to have to go through that all the time. Though I can see the good in it. Maybe do something like a 6 month rule? That way the people that join the site, basically just to pitch and sell things must do it a certain way (like a pre-set form), and then after 6 months, it would go back to the free form. That might scare off some of the trolls that come here merely to sell their crap, and keep them on that "other place".

That "crap" they come to sell is often quite decent.
Look at all the gus who just come in to sell buzzards, nice cockers, palmers goodies, ect.
Don't want to scare those guys off!

Yeah, the actual things they're selling are nice and all (sometimes), but the outragous prices for some of it, and the disreguard for the MCB rules, over some other sites rules were getting to be too much I think. Then again, that's mostly for another time. Though I do agree with you about the certain amount of time..

Have boxes that require a response like:

Title (Have it reject anything but text.)
Price

Optional boxes like one for images. Where you would have 4 boxes for URLs and they would automatically be given image tags once the post was created.

A box for the description, with a word limit so people don't just use it to copy and paste over from PBN. If people state the basic condition and problems they can give detailed descriptions through a PM.

And for the people who must have rules, 5 boxes at the end of the form that would turn into a list once the post was submitted.

Obviously it would require a bit of work, and may not even be possible. But the general populace who comes here just to sell, and is too lazy to do anything but copy and paste would at the minimum be required to maintain a basic standard. People who want to put more time into could have options for embellishment.

Just a thought.

P.S. This would mostly be for marker sections, as it wouldn't work very well for the Misc. Section. And yes it would result in more posts, but they would be nicer posts.

I had a similar idea exactly 1 month ago, and was for the most part shot down. Good luck with your venture.

Make the template Optional and available to contributing members only. Basicly offer it as a time saving perk for membership.

I like the fact that I don't deal with bad people since the bad seller/trader usualy makes a pbn post that is easily picked out as someone to not deal with.
