Some SA-8 testing numbers
I chose to post this in a new thread since it might take the other threads even further off topic. :)
PLEASE don't talk about the legal/liability aspects of SA-8 usage here. This thread is 100% about its ability to safely shoot paintballs.
The biggest single difference between the Pepperball SA-8 and the Tiberius T8 (other than the words "not for recreational use" etched on the receiver) seems to be the back block. The SA-8's has about twice the volume of the T8 and its pressure relief isn't user-adjustable.
The SA-8's pressure relief is set to bleed off when the pressure would shoot a paintball much faster than 300fps.
I shot 5 mags through my SA-8, trying some different methods to get the velocity to spike. It's cold here, but I have one room that stays at about 76F. I stored the 12grams and the SA-8 there for a few hours before the test, and during "pauses" in the testing. Chronographing occurred in a room at 65F.

The first page has some of the conditions plus measurements of random paintballs in my bag. All paint was the same brand and batch.
The first two mags I shot were intended as controls - using the same 12 gram and keeping the gun horizontal, I shot two mags to show "normal" velocity fluctuation.
The third mag was intended to spike the velocity, shooting 2 shots normal to verify velocity and making two shots in rapid succession with the gun inverted to force liquid CO2 past the regulator. Then I let the gun sit so that the CO2 would boil off and (potentially) cause a velocity spike. Then I fired the remaining rounds.
The fourth mag was a gamble - what happens when the gun is held inverted as the mag is inserted, and as I shoot all rounds in the mag?
The fifth mag was a nod to UV Halo's idea, meant to somewhat simulate usage on the field. The mag was inserted with the gun's muzzle pointed down and four shots were taken after raising the gun horizontal. Then the gun was left muzzle down (as if in a holster) and four more shots taken. Would the velocity spike?
At no time did I hear the pressure relief activate.
There are some 60fps variations, but not always where they would make sense. The first two mags show pretty good consistency for such old dimpled paint. I think mag 3 shot 5 and mag 5 shot 5 do show a potential tendency to spike.
I don't think there's enough data to make a conclusion, but I hope this data may help others design their experiments. My data is less credible anyway because I bought this gun to play paintball with, and because I worked alone.
I hope to have a T8 soon to do some back-to-back testing.

So it looks like 340 is about top end of a pressure spike. That is not that dangerous. Personally I would chrono mine @ 250 to start with, and it looks like you would have no problems.
How does this compare to a TAC8?
Here are some numbers that I got from using the same CO2, letting it rest between reloads, all shots were fired right side up, with little hand movement and no tilting.

I have a remote line adapter in the mail, once I get it, I'll do consistency test shots then.
There also has to be a break-in time for the gun, I ran a 20oz co2 tank through mine using reballs and there is now less than a 15fps spike.
