Hello, I have recently become the owner of a Veritas Tactical S8 and have decided rather quickly that the magazine release had to be redesigned. I am a machinist and an engineer so this became a 2 hour time killing project of mine. I made the release out of aluminum and it works ok. The release is a bit tight. A bit more sanding and rounding the corners should fix that. One oversight I made was the little bevel on the inside of the spring slot. I didn't put one on my piece and when I put a magazine in the grip, the button would go only so far and wouldn't release the magazine. I thought I would never get it out but after some brute force I managed to get it out. May I mention that this is the first iteration of this piece and I intend to make a better version (usually I screw up royally on the first 8 or so iterations, this is a rare occurrence to get it very close on the first try). So without further ado. Here are pictures. (taken with a crappy phone camera) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

so now you use your right index finger to release the mag? I have one someone else made, and I keep accidentally pressing it with the inside of my first knuckle(on the index finger) when I want to take my finger off the trigger but not my finger off the frame. Especially when the mag is full of co2.

No, this mod is for a right handed person. It puts the magazine release button in reach of your trigger finger unlike the out of reach thumb position. I like the way the stock release feels with my left hand, so I am making one for when I play right handed(which will be most of the time). Better pics up later when I get home. |

| XYZZY | You can often choose to make them smaller when you take the picture in options, or choose to re-size them if you post them to Imageshack, or post the thumbnails to big pictures also through Imageshack. If you have Windows 7 the built in Paint program is excellent and will crop and re-size easily. If you don't want to do any of that you can download an open source program called GIMP that's free to use and is basically Photoshop but without the huge cash payment. I just did these quicky using the Imageshack method; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm a rightie and I've never liked how I had to change my grip on the Tac8s to get my thumb on the mag release. It seemed more natural to "flip" it like this, so I could use my index finger but it wasn't obvious how to go about it. Interested to hear how it works. |

Thank you Jaan for resizing the pictures. I don't have Windows 7. Ill fiddle with a free program. It works mildly well. It is a bit stiff to push, but that is because the hole has non parallel sides. I milled the part parallel which results in a loose fit at one end and a tightish fit at the other. So I am fixing that and a few other problems. Some people seem interested enough to buy this from me. So I will make a batch once I fix all the problems. The will go for around 10-11 dollars (Which is a good low price in my opinion). |
