T9 standard Vs. first strike bolt?

Hey guys... does the standard T9 bolt have a cushion on it to contact the paint? Also does anyone have a pic of the standard T9 bolt VS a FS T9 bolt?

i am having an awful time breaking paint in my T9 and am looking for possible reasons! i am going to be trying to run it one one detent to see if that makes a difference & also grab some tougher shelled paint... any other suggestions?

the standard bolt has the pillow, the FS bolt does not.

My T8 serial # 239 has had no cushion on the bolt forever and doesn't break paint at all.The bolt the pillow goes on is still there too.

is the bolt the same on the T8 and T9? my T8 has a cushion, the T9 does not...

Not all T8/T9s came with the "Soft Touch" (AKA "ST") bolts. The "ST" models came later.

He's referring to the grub screw that holds the "firing pin" to the bolt.

Right side you can plainly see the screw. The one on the left is a T8 bolt and the right is a T9 bolt that shot off the cushion. So casper, if your T8 is missing a cushion, chances are you accidentally shot it off. That happens a lot.

@sQuidvision; are you using the correct main spring with the FS bolt and are you chronographing?

EDIT: i am using the only spring my used T9 came with, and yes i chrono'd to 280-290

You may need to order a first strike main spring from Tiberius. Mine had the same problem trying to run the first strike bolt with the stock main spring.
