How long are first strike rounds good for in storage? Any special way to store them required?

Out of direct sunlight is pretty much the only thing I've ever read about storage.

I'm not 100% sure, but I can tell you that my FSRs from 2009 are no longer good. The oils from the fill worked their way out of the shell, leaving pasty pigment inside and throwing off the shell balance.

I feel like those would be hilarious to shoot.

That's interesting to know. I have about 40 left of the 100 that I bought when I had my Trracer. I should check them. I do flip them from time to time, but that's about it.

I've only had oil leak from rounds that have cracks. These cracks are usually very hard to see, and the best way I've found to locate them is to give the round a squeeze.

I have some First Strikes from when they first came out. The quality is much better. Just as Russc described the oils had seeped out of the shells, the tubes got a dewy/condensation look to them. I use a vortexer before I use any paint that has settled which makes a big difference.

I must admit, I've never kept any very long (too busy shooting them :P I'd be surprised if the ill is leaking through the plastic. However, these noses and tails of these rounds are glued together so, it's possible the glued seam isn't air/water/oil tight.

Has anybody ever had them out of round? It almost looks like the fins were pushed together during the forming process. They are bad enough that it is noticeable to the naked eye. It is more obvious if they are nested together.

To my unaided eye, the skirts have always looked at least slightly out of round. They're hard to measure.
