First Strikes with Silver Springs?

Has anyone tried running First Strikes through magazines with silver springs?

I've got a buddy who says he does it and it works just fine.

He also has broken his brand new marker about three times, and only played with it twice.

He also states he switches between first strikes in the magazine and roundies in the hopper just fine, but complains a lot about breaks in the marker.

Sooooo.... I'm looking for some independent verification

I was advised to us silver springs in my mags for fsr and pb's.I went through a tough time with my 9.1 almost gave up.The tiberius owners group while not haveing alot of user's currently is a wealth of info!!How is your buddys breaking down?I never use a hopper on my tiberius guns.I bought it for 1 purpose and thats for mag fed fsr use.I am told use a hopper that pushes balls in like a rotor.

Have fired a total of 16 first strikes with silver spring and 16 with the red spring. I got two barrel breaks with the silver and 2 with the red so i'm not sure really if one is better than the other!

Even then your talking barrel breaks not misfeeds.A misfeed or chop is a horrible event and you almost have to break the gun down.Sounds like you just broke one or two could have been badly stored or older rnds.I have gone over 100 no misfeeds or breaks with silver.Like I have said before allot plays into a good preforming gun.I deburr the feed port of my barrels,Make sure that the front bolt is not touching the barrel this misalines the barrel slightly. Are your mags working ok,no binding. Are your fsr rnds ok ??I almost gave up now I.m knee deep and loving it!!

I have never used the red springs and my first strikes ran fine. Thats not to say its the right way to do it its just what I had at the time I shot them.

Okay, based on all your posts, I'm gonna swap my springs. I have had some minor issues with the Firsties, and I can't quite attribute it to just the springs (misfeeds, occasionally.) Also, Casper, you stated you de-burred your barrel feed port? Mind if I ask how? I mean, I'm assuming you used a file, but did you just widen it a bit? I can't feel any out of place 'burrs' on mine, should I just file it until it feels completely smoothe?

Thanks for all the help, guys =D
