Tippmann prolite problem

I have a Tippmann Prolite, that was a former rental i picked up on the forum awhile ago and it always sputters. I replaced the O-rings with some I bought from a kit online. Does the Tippmann Prolite NEED a siphon tank to work properly or does it sound like my sear is worn out?

Could be a worn hammer, worn sear, or to much spring. They don't have to be run on liquid but are more consistent if you do.
At one time Tippmann shipped 2 springs with the lite, one for liquid, one for gas(might have even called them cold and warm weather springs). Not sure how to identify the difference between them.

I have have this problem before and only stopped it by replacing both the hammer and sear at the same time. But that may not be your situation.
