Techt Barrel kit for a Sierra One (Project Salvo)

Hi everyone,

BE WARNED :- you will need to modify the shroud if you want to use the TechT iFit kit on the Sierra One

I just recently bought a nine piece TechT iFit barrel kit for my Sierra One.

The Bad :-
First thing i found out was that the barrel adapter for the kit is slightly too wide for the shroud so you can not remove the barrel and the barrel adapter as one piece.
I found this out at the shop before i bought it, but the guy in the shop said that all i would have to do is take the shroud off and put the adapter on first then put the shroud back on then put the barrel on. (a bit of a pain in the A$$, but once you get your paint sized, chances are you wont be changing the inserts a lot during the day, so i thought i could live with that)
I asked to try it at the shop but the guy couldnt find the allen key to remove the shroud (from the display Sierra One at the shop)

The Ugly :-
Anyway got it home and with the enthusiasm of a kid at Christmas ripped apart my marker to test it out to find... couldnt put the Shroud on with the adapter on
Luckily i have access to a dremel from work and i was able to remove some material from the shroud to make it fit.
I was a bit concerned at there is only one anchor point for the shroud and i didnt want to remove a lot from there and have it break. In the end i removed very little material it any at all from this anchor point

It only needs about 2 mm of material removed from the edge to make the diameter large enough to fit the adapter (makes the diameter approx 3-4 mm larger)
and you need to do this on the 2 main supports up about 30 - 40 mm
Since it is all internal to the shroud you cant see any difference after the mod was done

With the right tools it is quick and easy, in my case with adequate tools it took awhile and some patience

The Good:-
The Kit itself works really well, i had to dial back the velocity a bit after installing the kit and the FPS seem to be more consistent (this is based on a very limited sample and no real math to back it up)

If you need info on the kit you can it from here

TechT iFit Barrel System - Any Paintball Gun Barrel Upgrade Kit

For the price that i paid for this, the gains are modest but still noticeable.
If you have access to the tools necessary then this kit can work for you. I have found that i am using the .676 insert the most as i am trying to underbore to get a bit more efficiency

I would like to do some proper tests to be able to back up my observations
velocity test with & without the kit installed and maybe some type of efficiency comparison number of shots for a given pressure drop in the tank (??)

Conclusion:-
The Kit does work and i feel that it has improved the performance of my marker
If i had been a bit more on the ball and realized some of the issues i probably would have looked at another option (Freak Kit or more probably the Flasc kit)

The price for the kit is a bit high, but you get a wide range of inserts, more than any other available kits that i found with the Tippmann 98 threads

If you are able and willing to put in a bit of work then the iFit kit could work for you.

P.S. This is probably in the wrong place now as it has kinda morphed in to a review which is not what i had originally intended, but since i started down this path i might as well try to do it properly. Mods, If you want to move it feel free

P.P.S. this is now my first review
