Smg 60 magazine springs.

Hey everyone, finally decided to join MCB and I have a query. I just bought an Smg 60, serial number 173. It's in perfect working condition, but I'm missing a magazine spring. Does anyone have an extra to sell? Or even better some pictures of one so I can try to make them myself? It would be greatly appreciated, I really want to get this piece of machinery fully functional.

It uses a constant force spring. Measure the slot that is in the body and that will give you the spring's width. the length is going to be slightly longer than the magazine. Measure the inner square in the magazine and that will give you the max OD. After that it's just a matter of finding one that fits those measurements.

Try here: John Evans - springs - constant force - window balance - counterbalance - coil balance - egress - AAMA - SideLoad - Curve -- RoHS compliant

And here: Constant Force Springs | Lee Spring

I can get you at least the measurements of a stock constant force spring this weekend. You'd probably have to remind me, but i could get ya pics too.

Thanks a million guys! Now I just need to make a barrel sleeve to convert it to 50 cal so I wont spend an arm and a leg on paint.

a case of 60 cal is reasonably priced, a 50 cal mod would seem to be a lot of extra work for a cal proved to be inferior.

If the OP wants to PM me his address, I'll send you one. I have more of these things than I know what to do with.

I used to run (before this place) the SMGOG - SMG Owners Group, and I hoarded tons of this stuff.

SMG Spring Specs

width .375 (3/8 ths) inches

thickness .007 +/- .001 across the length of the spring

Coiled diameter ~.700"

Coils; 8.5 (?)

16" uncoiled, <-- that is a PITA to get, so it's not super accurate. +/- .25 inches
